Self-Nourishment

I am the one who knows how to nourish my body, mind and spirit.
I am the one who knows how to nourish my body, mind and spirit.

This is one of the first cards I made… and I love her!  I named her Simone, which is French for wise and thoughtful.

Since I’ve had a difficult relationship with food for many years, I thought this would be a good card to share right before Thanksgiving. Perhaps this Neter has a bit of wisdom for you as well.

And maybe you’d like to add a similar Neter to YOUR deck!

Who are you? I am the one who knows how to nourish myself.  I am the one who drinks deeply from the bowl of life and never worries about the bowl being empty.  I am the one who takes care of my body with good food, and cares for my mind and my spirit with rainbows, light, and gorgeous colors that ache with beauty.

I am the one who easily says, “Enough.”  I am the one who is grateful for what I have, who isn’t frantic about having more.  There is no desperation in my voice- only peace, wellness, grace and content. I am the one who is comfortable with my true self, who wants to see my true self thriving and healthy and whole.  I am the one who puts good, beautiful things into my mind and body and spirit.  I am the one who delights in taking care of myself.

What do you have to give me? I give you the gift of taking care of yourself.  I am The Slender One’s sister.  We walk hand in hand.  One does not exist without the other.

What do you want from me? I want you to give your body what it truly needs, and only that.  I want you to open your body, your soul, to all means of nourishment.  To make self-nourishment a daily practice.

SoulCollage® Challenge of the Month- Animal Companions

Sea Lion
Sea Lion

Whatever it is that you’re doing this week, I invite you to consciously bring one of your Animal Companions along with you.  Choose an animal from your Companions Suit– either randomly or intentionally.  Spend a little time with this animal’s energy before your day begins.  What does this animal have to give you right now… today… this coming week?  Ask it, and listen for its answer.

Invite its energy into whatever’s going on for you this month, and see if it makes a difference.  Place the card on your nightstand, or under your pillow and invite it into your dreams.

Don’t have any cards in your Companions Suit yet?  It’s time to make one!

Putting an Outdated Belief on a SoulCollage® Card

Waiting for the Other Shoe to Drop
Waiting for the Other Shoe to Drop

This card came to me several years ago when I was exploring old, outdated beliefs with my lovely therapist, Fran.  I’ve been aware of this particularly powerful and needy voice all of my life.  I believe I inherited it from my mother, this part of me who can’t enjoy life because she is WAITING FOR THE OTHER SHOE TO DROP.

The more inner work I do, the more I realize that this voice gets in the way of my living a full and joyful life.  I notice that, after making it and journaling with it (see below), it has much less power to ruin my day(s).

Who are you? I am the one who is afraid to enjoy all the sweetness and lush fullness of life.  I am the one who is certain that something bad is going to happen any minute to destroy my beautiful life.  I am the one who keeps looking out of the corner of my eye for the next disastrous thing to happen.

I am the one who doesn’t trust that life is good.  I am the one who is always worried about the future.  I am the one who can’t/doesn’t/won’t enjoy the abundance that is right in front of me because it all might be taken away from me at any moment.  I am the one who is nervous and anxious all the time, too tense to enjoy life, too focused on what might happen in the future, to enjoy the gorgeousness of this present moment right now.

What do you have to give me? My voice gives you a signal that you are too focused on the future.  My voice, my fear- is a signal to you that you need to breathe yourself back into the present moment.

What do you want from me? I want you to hold me in your arms and tell me that you will always take care of me, no matter what happens.  I want you to reassure me that you will care for and be here for me, always, no matter what.  I want you to tell me (over and over again) that even though bad things happen, there is still a bright side of the road and that you will help me to get there, no matter what happens to me.  I want you to remind me (over and over and over again) to stay in the present moment, and to focus on what IS, RIGHT NOW, instead of focusing on what MIGHT happen in the future.

What about you? Do you have any old beliefs or outdated  thought patterns that you could give voice to with a card?  Go ahead, be brave and make one!  Listen to its wisdom.

SoulCollage® Challenge of the Month- Quotables

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well. ~ Julian of Norwich
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well. ~ Julian of Norwich

Choose a quotation that you really love.  Ponder if for a while.  Take it with you into a special meditation time, repeating it as a mantra.  Savor its meaning.  Dream with it.

Then seek out images to create a card to honor this quote, to keep its meaning present in your Deck at all times.  It might take a while to find the right images, so be patient!

You might choose to put the actual words of the quote on the card itself… or you might not.  We generally do not put words on our cards; we allow the images to speak without the layover of rational thought that the written language brings.  But this isn’t a hard and fast “law.”  It’s your deck… you decide!

Another variation on this theme: see if you already have any cards in your deck that give image to a favorite quote. Maybe one of those “mystery cards” that you’re clueless about is waiting to speak to you through a favorite quotation.

Yes, I Have a Sense of Humor!

Sense of Humor, Committee Suit
Sense of Humor, Committee Suit

I made this card many years ago, completely intuitively.  At first all that was on the card was the open window background, and the woman on the bottom right (if you click on the image, it will get bigger so you can see more detail if you want).  Then I found the man in the turban and just KNEW he belonged on this card too. And guess what?  He did!

When I did the journaling below, I finally understood what part of me this card represented!

Who are you? I am the one with a surprising secret to tell you.  I am the one who winks at you and teases you and shares jokes with you.  I am the one who steps blithely in through your open windows and enters your life with a light step and a sense of humor.  I am the one who can laugh at myself, even though I am bound in chains and black leather.  I am the one who loves to laugh and who brings acres of fresh air into a room with my laughter.

What do you have to give me? I give you open windows, fresh air, laughter, secrets, the scent of fresh flowers.  I give you the ability to laugh at that which is funny, and to find the lighter side of everything.  I give you the ability to laugh at yourself.  I give you the ability to not take yourself so seriously.

What do you want from me? I want you to seek out that which is funny, light, and laughter-inducing.  I want you to laugh at yourself when you need to.  I want you to remember not to take life so seriously all the time.  I want you to open up the windows of your soul and let the fresh air come in with the laughter.
