I Am the One Who Prays

scaskhelpThis is a Committee card from my deck. It represents an inner part of me, the part who prays, and who believes in the power of prayer.

Who are you?

I am the one who spent many hours on my knees in church, praying. I am the one who believes that Someone is listening when I pray. I am the one who feels comfort and deep connection to all living things when I pray. I am the one who believes in the power of gratitude and supplication.Ā  I am the one who prays for others, who prays for myself, who prays for the world.

What do you have to give me?

I give you solace.Ā  I give you sustenance. I give you a channel through which you can connect with the Divine energy that connects everyone and every living thing.

What do you want from me?

I want you to honor me by praying consciously every day. I want you to write your prayers sometimes as that seems to focus you more. I want you to remember that Spirit is always listening. I want you to know that even the smallest thing can be taken to Spirit in prayer.

Is there anything else you want to say to me TODAY?

Yes! I sense your distinct sadness over the death of Robin Williams yesterday. I urge you to close your eyes for a moment and offer your sadness up to Spirit. I suggest that you spend some time today praying for his family and for those who were close to him.Ā  This will soothe your heart and ease your sadness.Ā  You have been thinking that there is nothing you can do, but there IS something you can do.Ā  Use my energy to pray.

  1. Wow, Anne Marie, thanks for this. I too (and many others) have been greatly impacted by Robin Williams’ death. Your card and this blog response makes me think of the Meta practice of caring for others. Very powerful, both yours and the meta practice. I think that I am going to go back to writing more about life in general (why we are here, what we leave when we are gone, etc.).

Thank you for sharing this. Indeed powerful for this particular day.

  2. Thank you so much for sharing this. I think the beauty of your message for me was knowing that I am not alone in feeling distraught over his passing and also, that through prayer and love I can support others and myself. Thank you being willing to share your feelings with us here.

  3. Anne Marie that is a beautiful message that speaks powerfully on the importance of connecting with the wisdom withing via authentic prayer – I love that you shared your card as we feel the powerlessness in the face of Robin Willliam’s suicide and so many other’s depression – with intention to end it all. It is a source of hope and a reminder for spiritual practice

  5. Dear Anne Marie,
Last night I saw the announcement of Robin’s death just moments before I had to teach a tele class on writing. I too felt broken-hearted and chocked up and wondered how I would be able to speak. My colleague reminded me that it must have been his time and the angels called him. This AM my husband and I watched every morning show interview about him and I teared up again. He always struck me as being such a kind man and his friends talked about how he connected with everyone with a generous heart. Thank you for your card of prayer and its comfort that we are not alone in our sorrow but can call upon Spirit for support and send our prayers to all of Robin’s family and fans and pray that the gifted Robin is now at peace.

  6. The blessing of the cards, voice from The All, the One, so true. Such a gift in this time or your sadness. Posting becomes an offering up to me and all who see this. Aho. (mistakenly posted first under an older post)

  7. Thank you so very much for sharing. The death of Robin Williams brings me to my knees. The sudden loss of such a huge and wonderful spirit master of comedy is breaking my heart. Robin Williams and Michael Jackson helped me to grow up with music, dance and laughter in my heart and soul.
I offer my prayers of forgiveness and solace to his family and friends.
“Until we meet again, Nanu Nanu.”
