Reflection Questions
for Alia Calendar’s Tele-class
on Timeless Time
- Can you recall a time(s) when you became so relaxed and centered or so absorbed in some activity or reflection that time seemed to stand still? Or to flow by so fast that you were amazed afterward to realize how much of it had slipped by? What were you doing at that time (or non-doing!)? What was the setting? What did that experience feel like?
- During experiences like this, what factors do you feel allow you to slip out of your normal awareness of linear time and into that time-out-of-time state?
- What do you consistently find yourself wishing you had more time for in your life? Could you, perhaps, zero-in on just one of those things, and commit as little as 15 minutes a day, or 1-2 days a week or month, to pursuing that thing?
- What visual images invoke in you a sense of stillness, content, or timelessness? Are there images of nature, art, beauty, spirituality, or other, that bring you to a feeling of calm center or quiet pleasure? Perhaps you could begin to gather such images to you as visual reminders, talismans, to help invite this state into your awareness.
- I invite you to find one period in the next few days, however brief (yes, 5 minutes counts!) to just stop . notice and dwell on your breathing; notice and dwell on some small beauty around you; and allow yourself a taste of time-out-of-time. From this tiny seed perhaps may grow a new habit of dipping into this well of timelessness more frequently through your days!
