A Three-Card Reading
I went to my Deck in the quiet of an early morning, lit a candle and softly said these words out loud: “How can I balance my life with more Play?”
Then I listened within and randomly but intuitively drew three cards. I let each card speak to me with I am the one who…” and then I let each card answer my question for me. The whole process took about ten minutes. Here is what I learned:
Card #1
Kripalu
Suit: Community
I am the one who gives you a place for retreat. I am the one that gives you time away from the “real” world. I am the one who gave you the freedom and playfulness of DansKinetics classes. I am the one who lets you be who you are, who welcomes you with open arms whenever you come to visit.
What I say to you about your question is this: Look at the statue of the Buddha and the women on this card. Look at how they are holding their bodies: arms up and out, front of body wide open, smiling. If you consciously hold your body like this more often, you will be inviting Play into your life more generously. Stretch. Open. Receive.
Card #2
Third Chakra Butterfly
Suit: Companions
I am the one who flies from flower to flower. I am the one who is beautiful, who loves to spread my wings and fly. I am the one who has beautiful colors, and who dances in the air with joyful abandon.
What I say to you about your question is this: spread your wings, try new things, watch what happens. I bring you a lightness in the center of your body. Watch this lightness. Allow my feather-lightness to lift your spirits. Let go of the heaviness, the “should’s”, and the worries about what other people will think.
Card #3
Gratitude
Suit: Committee
I am the one who throws back my hand and closes my eyes and trusts that everything will be all right. I am the one who is surrounded by light. I am the one who is directly blessed by Spirit at all times.
What I say about your question is this: The more grateful you are, the more in touch with Spirit you are. The more in touch with Spirit you are, the less you worry about what other people will think, the less you let your life be driven by “should’s” and lists and worries about not having enough time.
Summary
As I look at all three of these cards that I “randomly” drew, I notice that all of the women in these cards are standing in similar positions: arms open, front of body exposed and vulnerable, smiling. Open. That, for me, is the key word in this reading. If I am to bring more Play into my life, then I must create more of an attitude and posture of openness in my life.
I think it’s extremely important that I drew the Kripalu card in this Reading, because Kripalu is where I was drawn back to Play after many long dry years of only Work… through their wonderful DansKinetics classes (which is now known as YogaDance).
I am going to keep these 3 cards out on my Altar this week, to remind me of the lessons learned here this morning, and to remind me to be more open to Play, and to open my body to the possibilities that more Play in my life will give me.
