To be a person is to have a story to tell… Within each of us there is a tribe with a complete cycle of legends and dances, songs to be sung.
— Sam Keen
Class 2

I am the one who is defensive. I am the one who puts up armor so that no one hurts me. I am the one who hides my true feelings about what someone is saying because I don’t want them to know how hurt I am. I am the one who protects myself with quick verbal defensiveness. I am the one who doesn’t like being vulnerable. I am the one who covers my true self up with protective armor so that I cannot be wounded.
I am most afraid of being hurt.
I was born when you were 21 and your first real love called you up and said he didn’t love you anymore. That was my first day of building armor against being hurt like that again.
My gift to you is protection from those who want to hurt you, those who intend to do you harm.
I want you to put on the armor when you are around people who can hurt you, or who have hurt you in the past. I want you to KNOW WHEN to be defensive and when being defensive DOESN’T serve you.
Questions to Ask a Committee Neter
- Who are you?
- What do you have to give me today?
- What do you want from me?
- What do you need from me?
- Where did you come from?
- Are you related to any of my other parts?
- What are you afraid of?
- What makes you happy?
- What is your real job in my inner world?
- If you’re a dark and shadowy part, what was your original role meant to be?
- Which part of me are you trying to protect?
- If you’re a dark and shadowy part, who would be upset with you if you stopped doing what you’re doing?

When all of your inner voices are considered instead of judged, they relax. Just like when you stop and listen to a child, he relaxes. Your inner selves do the same. The ugly voices especially need your attention. You should see them. They sigh and lie back. “Ah, I’m being perceived.” Listening to everyone at your inner party is a surefire way to clear away the smoke of confusion and get a glimpse of your unfolding path. — Jennifer Louden
Class 3
The purpose of your dark actors or shadow parts is to collect all the experiences you don’t know how to handle and to hold their CHARGED FEELINGS until you are able to resolve them. — Vivian King

The quality of relationship you establish with an actor depends on your ability to extend love. Our human show depends on love for its existence. It depends on the heart to heal wounded actors, reconcile broken relationships and unify the cast. Love is the glue that holds your personality together. — Vivian King

What to then say to this “Unaccomplished Actor”
You are not alone.
What you’ve been looking for is already inside you. This quality will help you become a star player in my Troupe/Cast/Play.
More questions to ask of this “Unaccomplished Actor”
- What is it like to know that this quality is already within you? (The actor says “I feel…”)

We can’t wait for our disliked parts to just go away. The only way to change a villain is to stop running, look it in the eyes, then take it in our arms and love it once again. Yes, even the monsters and dragons. They too, will sit in our lap- IF we expand our consciousness to include them.” -Vivian King
