Autumn Archetype: Harvest
Blessed are you, Autumn, your harvesting time has come.
As we gather your riches into our barns,
reveal to us our own inner riches waiting to be harvested.Ā — Joyce Rupp
Journaling Questions:
- What is in my own personal harvest? What do I have an abundance of in my life? This can include things, experiences, and inner qualities.
- How can I live within my own harvest at this time in my life?
- What can I celebrate as well-tended, successful fruit in my life?
- Looking back on this year, what goals have I met? What seeds did I plant early this year that have grown rich and full? Which seeds did I plant that have not sprouted yet?
- What do I need to gather into my spiritual barn?

Autumn Archetype: Letting Go
Blessed are you, Autumn, season of the heart’s yearning,
you usher us into places of mystery and, like the leaves,
we fall trustingly into eternal, unseen hands. Ā — Joyce Rupp
Journaling Questions:
- What do I need to clear away in order for my personal ground to be able to rest over the winter?
- What parts of me are dead or dying? What inner voices donāt serve me any more? How can I cooperate with the transforming of these parts?
- What do I need to release in order for me to be at my full potential?
- What do I need to let go of in order to live a truly authentic life, true to my own soulās calling?
- What do I need to let go of in order to move forward in an unfettered way?
- What in my life needs to fall away like autumn leaves so another part of me, waiting in the wings, has space and energy to sprout forth?

Quotes to Ponder

The seasons are what a symphony ought to be: four perfect movements in harmony with each other. — Arthur Rubenstein
Live in each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit.
— Henry David Thoreau
Autumn stands as an epiphany to the truth that all things are passing and even in the passing there is beauty. — Joyce Rupp
This is an important autumn lesson- when certain things fall away, there are other things that can be seen more clearly. — Joyce Rupp
Autumn touches the core of the soul with its wordless message about the necessity of transformation and death. — Joyce Rupp
Autumn is a good season to recall some of the fallen leaves of past memories. Bring out old picture albums. Gain new life and energy by remembering people who were once sheltering trees, places where we went for shade and refreshment. Their leaves may have fallen, but we can still live in the shade of their memories. — Marcrina Wiederkehr
My autumn memories as a child have deepened in me as I have grown older. They draw me into a season that engenders gratitude for both the material and spiritual harvests of a year gone by. It is a season rich with wisdom, reminding me time and again to treasure the beauty, appreciate what is, and then, let go when it is time.

What do I need to let go of in order to live a truly authentic life?

I am the one who blocks out my messy feelings.Ā I am the one who doesn’t want to feel anything but the good stuff.Ā I am the one who feels safe inside this bubble. What I have to say to your question is this… you need to let go of your tendency to block out messy feelings!Ā You need to know that these feelings will not, ever, destroy you, unless you get stuck in them.Ā You have many tools now for processing ALL of your feelings.Ā Feelings are always messy and imperfect, they are part of living a TRULY AUTHENTIC life!

We are the ones who bear the sacred markings of cancer.Ā We are the ones who are identified with our markings. Some call them scars. We call them sacred marks.Ā We are the ones who bear these sacred marks on other parts of our bodies too. Our answer to your question is this- you need to let go of your negative identification with cancer.Ā Place it on a little boat (see image on left of card) and set it free. Honor these sacred marking but do not let them DEFINE you.
