Why Explore Ancestral Wisdom?

ancestor photos unsplashWe are all part of a story that began long before we arrived.

Behind each of us stretches a vast and varied lineage of people, places, traditions, choices, losses, gifts, struggles, celebrations, and stories. Some of these we know well. Some have been lovingly passed down through generations. Others may be hidden, forgotten, fractured, or simply waiting for us to become curious enough to listen.

And our ancestors are not limited to names on a family tree. They can include the people whose blood we carry, certainly, but also the spiritual ancestors, creative ancestors, cultural ancestors, mentors, teachers, chosen family, and other wise ones whose lives have somehow helped shape our own. We may even discover connections with ancestors we never met, yet whose courage, creativity, resilience, or dreams seem to echo within us.

SoulCollage® offers us a uniquely beautiful way to explore these connections. Through images, imagination, card making, journaling, guided experiences, and the voices of our cards, we can open doors into the past without needing to know every name, date, or detail. We can become curious about what has been passed down to us, what we want to honor, what we are ready to release, and what wisdom might still be waiting to find its way into our lives.ancestors frames

For this unique new series, six gifted SoulCollage® Facilitators will each invite us into a different doorway of ancestral exploration. We will gather month by month to wonder, discover, create, listen, remember, and celebrate.

What stories live within you?

What strengths have traveled across generations to reach you?

Who are the wise ones (known and unknown) standing behind you?

What might happen if you gave yourself six months to listen?

I hope you’ll join us in 2027 for this rich, creative, and community-building journey into ancestral wisdom and the many ways it can deepen our relationship with ourselves, our SoulCollage® cards, and the Larger Story to which we all belong.

Suddenly, all my ancestors are behind me.
“Be still,” they say. “Watch and listen.”
You are the result of the love of thousands.”
~ Linda Hogan, Chickasaw poet

Class 1
Remembering the Threads:
An Ancestral SoulCollage® Journey
with Jo-Ann Dellaposta & Anne Marie Bennett

What is woven into you that is waiting to be remembered? We each carry threads of stories, memories, strengths, longing, and wisdom  that reach far beyond our individual lives. Some come through our ancestral  bloodline. Others arise through our relationship with the earth, animals,  plants, trees, elements, and landscapes.

Remembering the Threads is an experiential journey into these unseen  connections. Through guided meditation, we will enter an inner landscape  where images, sensations, symbols, and unexpected moments of knowing  can emerge. You may find yourself drawn toward an ancestral presence, an  animal, a place in nature, or an image that carries a meaning you cannot  immediately explain. We will approach these experiences with curiosity and  openness, allowing the images to reveal themselves in their own time.  As we journey, Reiki and sound will help create a grounded and spacious  environment for this deeper listening. Their gentle support can help us settle  into the body, quiet the mind, and become more receptive to the subtle  impressions that often get lost in the noise of daily life.

We will spend time with any images that arise through consulting our images and  journaling. These practices invite us to linger with what we have  encountered—to notice what draws our attention, what stirs an emotional  response, what feels familiar or mysterious, and what new questions begin to  unfold. We simply listen and allow the conversation to develop.

This workshop will be an invitation to reconnect—with the wisdom of  those who came before, with the living world around us, and with the deeper  parts of ourselves.

Come with curiosity. Come with openness. Come ready to discover. Perhaps you will experience the quiet recognition that you are not separate  from the web of life—you are part of it.

0000 jo ann dellapostaWith 30 years of experience as an art educator, Jo-Ann Dellaposta has devoted her life to the transformative power of creativity. Now retired from teaching, she continues to explore the sacred connection between art, healing, and self-

Jo-Ann believes art is a powerful language of the soul—one that can reveal what words cannot express. Through intuitive artmaking, imagery, sound, and energy work, she creates nurturing workshops where people can slow down, connect within, and listen to their own inner wisdom. Her intention is to honor each person’s unique creative journey and to help awaken the healing, insight, and transformation that can emerge when we give the soul a way to speak. The Many Hands That Hold Us:
Expanding How We View Ancestry

with Kimberly Lee & Anne Marie Bennett

The wider our definition of ancestry, the deeper our capacity for belonging. — Anonymous

We often think of our ancestors as existing only on one family tree, with branches that include only blood relatives. Yet we are shaped by many more people and influences. This workshop will broaden our understanding of ancestry, revealing rich connections that are ripe for acknowledgment and exploration. We’ll meet five lineages beyond bloodline (milk kinship, chosen family, culture, affinity, and place), each offering new ways to honor who and what has shaped us.

Through reflective writing, guided imagery, gentle movement, poetry, and of course, SoulCollage®, we’ll experience how ancestry goes beyond genealogy, placing us within a wide web of supporting characters. You’ll discover ancestors in unexpected places and recognize the many influences that have brought you to this moment. You’ll realize that you are held by more hands than you know, and that you carry the strength, gifts, and goodness of all who have nurtured you in their own way. You’ll leave the workshop with the understanding that ancestry consists of more than one family tree. It’s a whole forest.

We Are All Related:
From the Cosmos to the Cloud
with Michele Manos & Anne Marie Bennett

It is said that “we are stardust” and from that “dust” came the biological building blocks from which life on Earth emerged. We may consider ourselves, physically and energetically, a part of everything that was and that will be. Both the heavens and the earth may nourish our sense of belonging. Our earthly lineage began in a primordial soup that brought forth a wondrous collection of organisms and, eventually, modern humans. We’re supported by ancient, ever-evolving landscapes and magical elements. And at an unprecedented pace, we humans continually reshape our world and its inhabitants.

Seena Frost honored this universal, mysterious connection through the Transpersonal SoulCollage® cards, particularly Source and SoulEssence.  This session will honor the One and the Many as we explore formative relationships from the Big Bang to the technology-driven present. Through meaningful fun, reflection, and sharing, let’s discover unexpected ancient influences, progenitors, heartfelt roots, family trees, and soulful symbols. We’ll peruse our cards, listen to them, and discover new allies to welcome into our decks.

michele manosDr. Michele Manos trained as a SoulCollage® Facilitator in 2008 with Seena Frost and since has been taking her workshops to new and deeper levels. She’s created and co-created an array of SoulCollage® offerings, including the 2009 and 2026 Facilitators’ Conferences and more than a dozen retreats. Her many SoulCollage® virtual workshops (almost 100) have covered diverse themes. Michele’s heritage and identity is Cretan. Following the teachings of her elders, she acknowledges the Minoan snake priestesses as grandmothers. She believes we are all connected as descendants of stardust. Connect with her on her website.

Exploring the Motherline
with Stephanie Anderson Ladd & Anne Marie Bennett

One could say our motherline of ancestors proves woman’s immortality through our life-giving capacity. Who were the women who came before you that led to you? We undoubtedly carry some of their qualities, quirks, and capacities even if we don’t know it. We will explore the soulful lineage of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and even aunts (whether biological or not), who helped form us (even if you’re not sure who they are).

We will journey and journal with these feminine souls and imagine what they have to tell us so that we may remember what they endured to bring about our existence. Gather any photos you may have of these women and bring them along with your journal. (If you don’t have photos, you can gather images that remind you of what you know of their lives.)

stephanie editedStephanie Anderson Ladd, psychotherapist and author of Goddesses of Self-Care: 30 Divine Feminine Archetypes To Guide You, has been doing SoulCollage® for 23 years and became a facilitator in 2009. Class 5
An Ancestral Recipe:
Gathering What We Need
with Tameka Jackson & Anne Marie Bennett

For centuries, women have bonded in the kitchen, preparing recipes from the heart to feed and nurture those they love. This workshop draws upon this tradition, inviting participants to craft a symbolic recipe sourced from ancestral wisdom and created to bring forth the specific medicine they need at this time.

Through grounding, SoulCollage® card dialogue, journaling, reflection, and ritual, participants will begin by naming what they are feeling and listening for the deeper needs beneath those emotions. Each person will identify one need that feels especially alive, perhaps courage, rest, protection, clarity, tenderness, permission, or hope and select an ancestral card to serve as a guide.

Participants will reflect on what their ancestors may know about this need, what strengths or medicine live within their lineage, and how that wisdom can be reclaimed and embodied in everyday life. They will then create an ancestral recipe using symbolic ingredients such as resilience, joy, discernment, prayer, or rest. The experience will conclude with participants creating a small altar using natural elements to honor what has been remembered and reclaimed, and naming a personal commitment to carry this ancestral wisdom forward. This workshop is an experience of reflection, remembrance, and reclamation.

tameka editedOriginally from Hackensack, New Jersey, Dr. Tameka Jackson now resides in Northern California, where she is a licensed psychologist in private practice in Sacramento. Grounded in trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and African-centered approaches, she integrates psychology, spirituality, creativity, and ritual to support healing, resilience, and authentic connection. Tameka is passionate about creating sanctuaries for women to come home to themselves through creative healing practices. A SoulCollage® Facilitator since 2021, she is also a certified Journal to the Self® Facilitator, Morning Altars Facilitator, and 7 Homecomings Meditation Facilitator. Her workshops and retreats weave together guided meditation, creative journaling, nature-based altar making, and ancestral practices. She is the founder of CORE Love, a wellness initiative supporting Black women in cultivating radical self-love and self-compassion. Outside of work, she cultivates joy through nature, sisterhood, family, music, and gratitude. To connect with Tameka, visit her website here.

Class 6
I Am An Ancestor:
Honoring Who I Am,
What I Leave Behind,
& What I Carry
with Barb Horn & Anne Marie Bennett

We began our journey as ancestors in human form at birth. What kind of ancestor we are and will become is multifaceted. What did our Soul come here to experience for the first time? How are we called to grow and contribute? What imprints will we leave in others’ souls, and what do we want them to experience from our presence? What will we carry on?

Using the river metaphor, we will play with our SoulCollage® cards from three perspectives to connect with and ignite our legacy. We’ll start at the headwaters or source of our Soul’s purpose in this lifetime, and explore who our Soul incarnated to become through growth and contribution. Flowing with the river’s current, we’ll then explore who we have become today. Looking downstream, where our river joins others and the ocean, we will also observe who we are yet to become: one drop among the many.

Where are the gaps? What needs acceptance, acknowledgment, or release? What needs to be seen, created, or expressed? Where is your growth edge? What will you no longer tolerate leaving unexpressed? Weaving in insights from our previous sessions, we invite you to become a conscious ancestor and express your full magnificence.

barb horn editedBarb Horn is a seeker on a journey to express the full magnificence of her Soul. Her Soul purpose is to contribute to our collective evolution by being an example and an invitation; her growth edge is expanding her capacity to hold, receive, and express more. At the core of her offerings is the exploration of who you are or need to become to express your full magnificence. Her superpowers: making the complex simple, the hidden accessible, and standing for your potential and possibilities, all while having fun. Introduced to SoulCollage® in 2005 and a Facilitator since 2008, Barb found the practice accelerated her path to self-love, self-leadership, and sourcing her own value. She hosts a monthly local group and creates learning experiences for the larger SoulCollage® community. Rewiring after a 35-year career as a river scientist, she believes the third phase of life is our most creative time. A woman-centered transformational coach, author, speaker, and lifelong learner, she writes the Live Out Loud blog on Substack, holds an online community for accomplished women who know they have more to express, and offers Soul purpose exploration and numerous courses. What SoulCollagers Are Saying About Previous
KaleidoSoul Zoom Celebration Series:

scforgivingforgivenI loved the entire series. It was well thought-out, organized, and very professional. I felt very safe in a group of like-minded people. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

I really appreciated the weekly engagement emails in between sessions, and the many, many handouts. I felt encouraged to work more consistently with my SoulCollage® cards.

There was a great balance of left brain learning and right brain experiencing.

It was very nice to meet all these beautiful SoulCollagers from all over the world!

I appreciated the immense wisdom that everyone shared. A lot of work was put into the Chakra Extravaganza and the timing was perfect. I also looked forward to the weekly emails of resources and activities to keep the experience going.

Even though I am just starting this series (better late than never), I can sense the powerfulness of the work and the deep connection with myself that it is already providing.

I have discovered lots of great tools for my work as a therapist and coach and also my own healing and growth.

Truly, each guest Facilitator brought their own unique gifts. I loved that there was a variety and not the same Facilitator each month. Anne Marie lended continuity and held it all together beautifully with her opening presentations for each session.

Every session was well-structured. I enjoyed the variety of the presenters and what each one offered.

I really loved meeting and connecting with other SoulCollagers from all over the place! It was wonderful to connect with them in all of the small group breakout sharing sessions.

magical stock art

What was really great was that you gathered together Facilitators with so many different teaching styles. No two sessions were alike!

Thank you for this offering. It was worth every penny as well as the time that I put into watching the videos and doing the “homeplay.”

I had a great time! I will go back to these classes again and learn new things. It’s wonderful that that’s possible.

I loved the many different guest Facilitators and the ability to watch the videos later and not have to watch “live.” So much work went into each presentation, that was obvious.

I learned so many new things about my deck that went beyond the topic of the series.

I appreciated the integrity of the environment that was set up for us to go deep, share, feel… I thought that the variety in topic, format, speakers, participants, was helpful. I also liked the time in between Zooms to continue the work with weekly loving email reminders and activities.

It was absolutely amazing how this pulled together so many different aspects, yet it was a cohesive whole.

It has helped me with growing into my own SoulCollage® practice.

I wasn’t able to attend “live,” but I really loved the experience of watching the videos afterwards. I found the speakers all quite wonderful and I got a lot out of each class. It was kindof nice to be able to pause the videos when I needed more time to process the information and guided imagery…etc.

To forget one’s ancestors is to be a book without a source,
a tree without a root.
