    Your Journey To Source

One of the many "best" things about SoulCollage, for me, is that its process is deep and wide enough to embrace all religions and all spiritual beliefs. This is reflected in the huge variety of ways that people express their idea of spirituality in their Source Cards.

I was fortunate to find my Source card image in the first month of practicing SoulCollage. It's all one image, not even a collage, but I chose it for my Source card because I've always felt closer to Spirit at the ocean. Also, it contains all four elements that make up life: water, air, fire, and earth.

However, I know people who have been doing SoulCollage a year or more who don't have a Source card yet... either because they haven't found the right image(s) yet, or because they just aren't ready to even think about it.

Someday you might even make a card completely intuitively and then discover later that it is your Source card!

What matters is that your own spirituality is deepening and growing as you are learning about yourself (and your community and your spirit guides/animal totems) while creating and working with your own SoulCollage deck.

Anne Marie Bennett is a freelance writer, self-
taught artist and SoulCollage® facilitator who trained with Seena Frost. Her background is elementary education, computer software training, writing, and mixed media art. She
lives, laughs, writes, and sings (and makes her own SoulCollage® cards!) in Beverly, MA. More of Anne Marie's cards/interpretations are available on her blog, Inner Surprises.

Soul Symphonies With Karen

My name is Karen Mann and I'm a SoulCollage® facilitator from Melbourne, Australia. This column is for those of you who have already made some cards & are ready to discover the symphony of voices inside of you and around you.

Spirituality & Trust

One definition of spirituality is "An inner sense of something greater than oneself. Recognition of a meaning to existence that transcends one's immediate circumstances."

While I "know" that there is something bigger than us, a bigger plan (or "Larger Story") for us, it requires a great deal of TRUST to really believe this sometimes.

I have made this SoulCollage card directly around the theme of trust. It says: I am the one who trusts that everything is happening as it is meant to be. I am the one who trusts that I will be able to feed myself when I need to. I trust that I'm getting exactly the sort of nourishment I require. I trust that my journey is taking me where I need to go. I am learning to "let go & let God."

However, I probably really didn't need to make a card around this issue of trust, because the SoulCollage process itself serves as a great reminder of trust. SoulCollage reminds us in many different ways to trust that everything is happening exactly as it should.

Learning About TRUST From SoulCollage:

SoulCollage has taught me to TRUST that when the time is right, I will understand the meaning behind my card/s.

Initially I didn't know what Neter my "Wounded Healer" card represented (in fact at first I didn't even notice he was wounded). Over time the realisation of the essence of this card became apparent, particularly after reading Sacred Contracts by Carolyn Myss and learning about this archetype. The meaning made itself known just when I was ready to explore this part of myself. I did not need to strain or hurry. It all happened in its own good time.

SoulCollage has taught me to TRUST that during a reading the perfect card will appear.
Once while doing a reading about financial security, I drew my "financial abundance & joy" card. This was a very obvious card that gave me a message of great hope. Sometimes, however, the meaning is less obvious or gratefully received. One participant who was doing a reading about her future drew a "sad" card, and was dismayed, until she realised that this card had lots to teach her about expressing how she was really feeling.

SoulCollage has taught me to TRUST that if I make a "mistake" while making a card there will be a good reason for it.
For example, when I accidentally ripped the head of a yelling figure, while making a card about anger, I learnt about "yelling my head off" and "disassociating myself from my feelings." Another time I smudged the throat on a card and then realised it had a connection to my throat chakra and self-expression.

SoulCollage has taught me to TRUST that even "shadow aspects" of myself have lots to teach me.
Once, when drawing a card in my Daily Reading, I drew my "bad temper" card and was mortified. I was holding a lunch for 20 family members and did not want my bad temper to be on show that day. Once I trusted that this card had a valuable lesson to teach me, I spent time with it, "listening" to what it had to share. I learnt that I needed to care for myself that day so as not to get so frazzled that my bad temper came out to play. I took time to care for me and the day ran smoothly, with no ugly outbursts or temper tantrums.

For me, a big part of spirituality is recognising and trusting that we are just a small part of something much larger than us, and that everything is happening exactly as it should be. Believing this takes a great deal of trust. Luckily for us, the SoulCollage process is a great teacher of trust, through a variety of exercises.

Those of you who have ever attended a workshop of mine will be very familiar with my catch cry of "TRUST THE PROCESS."
I believe that learning to "trust the process" is a small step that allows us to practice trust in a safe environment. Over time you will learn to trust more & more, and expand your ability to trust from your SoulCollage practice out into your "real" life.

KaleidoSoul Creations
As promised, we are featuring four SoulCollage® cards from our readers in each issue. Please feel free to submit one of your cards for a future issue by sending a reply email to this newsletter.

In keeping with this month's theme, each card below represents a Source Card from
a SoulCollager's deck.

In case you're wondering why there are no I AM THE ONE WHO statements for these cards, remember that the Source Card does not have a "voice" per se. It represents that which has no image, and no voice. It represents that which simply Is.

Notes

Note-worthy sites & resources that are proven to be worthy of our readers!

Spirituality and Practice- This is the best site I've seen on how to incorporate spirituality into our daily lives.

All Books 4 Less- There's a bazillion books on spirituality here. Check it out! This month only, they're offering their famous Dollar for Dollar Sale... for every dollar you spend there, you get that many dollars in fr*ee books. This site is an inexpensive, excellent way to build your own spiritual library as well as cross off some more names on your holiday shopping list!

Answered Prayers, by Julia Cameron. This is my favorite book by the popular writer of The Artist's Way. Each entry is written as if God/Spirit was talking directly to me. I read a page almost every morning, and I get goosebumps when I think about how specifically Spirit has communicated with me through this little book. Only $5.99.

Women's Spirituality and Ritual, by Barbara Walker. This author gently leads you on a journey of inner discovery through ritual and the beginnings of prayer.
Only $6.99.

Bliss: 33 Simple Ways to Awaken Your Spiritual Self, by Michael Goddart. It only takes two minutes a day to experience true spiritual bliss. Just try these exercises and see. Only $5.99.

The Passion of Mary Magdalene, by Elizabeth Cunningham. Actually, I recommend all 3 of the books in her Maeve Chronicles, which fictionally and beautifully detail the life of Mary Magdalene. What I love most about these books is that they touch on all realms of spirituality, not just Christianity.

Dance of the Dissident Daughter, by Sue Monk Kidd, author of Secret Life of Bees. A powerful, deep story of the author's journey from a traditional Christian spirituality to a spiritual life based in feminine spirituality. I read this when it was first published in 1996, and it transformed my own spiritual journey greatly.

Check out the CDBaby.com site which is the best site ever to buy CD's from. Their customer service is awesome; their shipping prices are less than Amazon's; you can listen to samples of the music before you buy it; they're a big company with a great sense of humor and an excellent attitude toward their customers. All you have to do is buy there once and you'll see what I mean! Their New Age music collection is very broad, and perfect for background music while you're making those beautiful SoulCollage cards! It's music to inspire your soul.
