    Claiming Abundance

This month I ampreparing for our 3rdAnnual KaleidoSoul Retreat... an exciting weekend event that allows us toimmerse ourselves in the wonders of SoulCollage.

As I get ready, I am gatheringimages from magazines for the retreaters to choose from as they make more cards for their SoulCollage decks.  I can't help butthink of abundance as I do this because I have literally thousands ofimages... and they all feel so glorious and beautiful and sleek and smooth as Isift through them.

When workshop/retreat participants first see this sheer excess of images, they usually respond in one of three ways:

    1. They get very excited, like children in a candy store.  These people dive right in, happily taking as many as they possibly can hold in their hands at once.

    2. They are struck with disbelief.  "Wow, I can't believe you have so many images here," they will say.  And when the workshop is almost over, they will ask me if they need to put their unused images back into the pile.

    3. They become a little bit frightened of it all.  It's almost painful for them to be facing so much goodness right in front of them. Some people will even shy away from the tables of images for a while until they get used to the whole idea of it.

Do you see any similarities in how you respond to the abundance that is in your own life? (And really, no matter what our situation on any given day, the abundance of the universe is there for the taking., be it money, love, friendship, inner peace, or whatever it is that it right within your reach.)

Do you open your arms wide and dive right in, gratefully receiving the abundance that has come your way?
Do you allow disbelief to get in the way of having everything that your heart desires?  Or does the idea of abundance frighten you a bit?  Are you  turning your back on what is there for you because you just can't believe you deserve it?

Whichever category you fit into, it's perfectly okay.  Maybe you could use this self-discovery as a starting place for a SoulCollage card about abundance.  Or maybe you could just be a little bit more aware of the abundance that life is offering you right now.  Either way, give yourself permission to allow some abundance into your life this week.

Here are some recommended resources that I have personally used to increase my own ability to receive and appreciate the abundance in my own life:

The Aladdin Factor, by Jack Canfield.

Ask and It Is Given, by Esther & Jerry Hicks.

Creating Money, by Sanaya Roman and Duane Packer.

Choosing Abundance

As the deadline for submitting this article to Soul Songs approached, I was struggling with writingit.  Inspiration just wouldn't come.  I emailed Anne Marie to tell her I wasstruggling with the article (and life) this week.  Then I added a bit of news about my life ingeneral.

I told her about a new, verystrict diet I had begun this week, which has left me feeling tired and lackingin energy, and also a little hungry and deprived.  I told her about my new job, but thencomplained that the pay raise I'd been excited about had unfortunately not beenas much as I'd hoped.  I also told herthat my son had gotten his braces this week, which was another added expense.

It was only after I'd written the emailthat it became apparent to me that I was currently caught up in a mindset of lack and scarcity.  What a terribleplace to be in.  What a bleak way to viewthe world.  And I recognized it as a destructive patternof beliefs I used to engage in often.  Notenough food, energy, inspiration, money or time.  Oh woe is me...

Read Karen's entire article and see her Abundance SoulCollage cards on this KaleidoSoul page.
