Quotation of the Week

Why should we all use our creative power?
Because there is nothing that makes people
sogenerous, joyful, lively, bold & compassionate,
so indifferent to fightingand the accumulation
of objects and money.

SoulCollage Expressions
Ideas and Challenges to Spice Up Your SoulCollage Practice

Challenge of the Week

Silence is Golden

Spend some time in silence this week, no matter how difficult it might be to arrange.  Allow no distractions to interrupt you.  Try for 15 minutes, just once this week.  What can you let go of to allow this luxury into your life?  Notice what your inner voices have to say about the fact that you are doing this.  Notice what happens when you give silence some space in your life.

Our Next Tele-Class

Creating From Source

with Sharry Teague & Sheila Filan,
SoulCollage Facilitators in Oregon

Although we probably appreciate all the cards in our SoulCollage deck, perhaps some feel more potent, more alive, than others.  I know this is truefor me.  What makes the difference?  My sense is that there are times when wehave opened to more depth, breadth, or height in our creative work. Is thissomething we can encourage or is it a Grace that is beyond our ability toinfluence?   We invite you to explore this important question in Creating From Source.

Sharry Teague received her SoulCollage Facilitator's training in 2004 withSeena Frost, Kylea Taylor, and Noelle Remington. SoulCollage wasespecially important to her because she had been away from doing artfor many years. It was an accessible way to reconnect with the part ofher that loved to color.  Sharry is retired from teaching highschool economics and then serving for several years as a high schoolcounselor in Grants Pass, Oregon. She has lead workshops in personalgrowth and journal writing through Rogue Community College, taughtcreative dance to children, and currently offers Life Coaching.  Sharryis training to become a Certified Focusing Professional.

Sheila Filan received her SoulCollage Facilitator's training inSeptember of 2004 with Seena Frost, Kylea Taylor, and Noelle Remington.Sheila has a rich background in art beginning in high school where shestudied with Sister Mary Corita. Sheila works in a variety of media andhas taught Surface Design at Southern Oregon University.  Inaddition to her art background, Sheila is a Feldenkrais practitioner.Movement is a second art form for her. She also has studied SoulMotion, taught yoga, is an aikido black belt, and currently practicesNia.  Sheila raises many of the fruits and vegetables she uses inher cooking, another important avocation. She is "mom" to 4 cats at herhome in Ashland, Oregon.

Both Sharry and Sheila are studying with Russell Delman in his Embodied Life Mentorship Program.

Soul Nourishment- Books

Riding with the Queen, by JennieShortridge.  I loved Jennie's firstnovel, Eating Heaven, and this one is right up there along with it!  The main character in this one is TallieBeck, who is funny, sexy, smart and heartbreakingly real.  There's a lot here about journeys, family, and the true meaning of community.  Lightreading + solid fiction + believable characters = JOY!

Four Paws, FiveDirections, by Cheryl Schwartz. Cheryl is a trailblazer in traditional Chinese medicine for dogs andcats.  Here she shares her practicalexperience, insights and wisdom.

Painting from theSource, by Aviva Gold.  Subtitled Awaking the Artist's Soul in Everyone, this amazing book is uplifting and glorious in its inspiration to artistseverywhere.  While Aviva specificallyrefers to the intuitive art of painting, everything in this book can be appliedto anyone, no matter what your chosen form of creativity is.  After reading just the first chapter, I feltinclined to get out my art materials and start journaling in color again.  Also, check out her website

Drawing as a Sacred Activity: Simple Steps to ExploreYour Feelings and Heal Your Consciousness, by Heather C. Williams.  Like many people, Heather Williams was not encouraged to embrace her creativeside during childhood and as a result turned her back on part of her innerlife. Beginning with an explanation of how she reclaimed her artistic impulses, this book invites readers to explore their own resources for creativity. Withastep-by-step approach to personal development in the tradition of Drawing onthe Right Side of the Brain and The Artists Way, it teaches not only thetechnical skills needed to draw but also ways to delve into our inner lives forhealing and inspiration. The book is divided into three sections: Pencils andPerception (observing and drawing what is seen in the physical world); Crayonsand Consciousness (drawing the interior landscape); and Ink and Intuition(drawing on ones intuitive wisdom). With 300 black-and-white illustrations, this is an easy, fun way to unlock creativity and unleash the spirit.
