Soul Singing With Anne Marie

Hi! I'm Anne Marie, the creator of KaleidoSoul, and a SoulCollage® facilitator in Massachusetts. If you're just starting to sing your song with SoulCollage®, then this column is especially for you!

Suggestions for Newcomers to SoulCollage:
  • Find a SoulCollage Facilitator near you.
  • Download the Getting Started with SoulCollage Workshop.
  • Visit KaleidoSoul and click on What is SoulCollage, SoulCollage Deck, and
Making the Cards on the left menu.
  • Seena Frost is the one who created SoulCollage®. Visit Seena's website and see what four cards come up for you in the automatic reading, then read some of Seena's articles.
  • Read Seena's book, SoulCollage.
  • Listen to Seena's CD, Introduction to SoulCollage.
  • Don't forget to take it easy and always, always
    trust the process!

One of the hardest things for most SoulCollagers to grasp is the concept of archetypes, and I was no exception! But I trusted the process, and Seena's words, and now (slowly but surely) it is all coming together.

If you find yourself in the same position: struggling to understand what exactly an archetype is and which ones have been most active in your own life.... I am here to tell you one thing-- DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT!

Just continue the process of finding images that you love, creating cards with them, and letting them speak using the I AM THE ONE WHO exercise. Eventually, I promise, you will come across one that speaks to your life in a more mystical, spirit-giving way, and that will be your first Council card!

There are some excellent books you can use to learn more about this fascinating topic (see KaleidoSoul Notes, in the lower right column of this newsletter). You also can reference Seena's book, and the KaleidoSoul Page on the Council Suit. Or you can join us this Sunday, September 10 at 6 pm (EST) for an all-new and exciting Tele-Playshop (aka Tele-Class!) on the Council Suit.

And don't forget... the Council Suit contains spirit guides as well. Do you have a Guardian Angel? Has a beloved pet passed away and yet you still feel a connection to him/her? Are there angels watching over you? As you search through images, keep in mind that one or more of them might represent this part of the Council Suit too!

Anne Marie Bennett is a freelance writer, self-
taught artist and SoulCollage® facilitator who trained with Seena Frost. Her background is elementary education, computer software training, writing, and mixed media art. She lives, laughs, writes, and sings (and makes her own SoulCollage® cards!) in Beverly, MA.

Soul Symphonies With Karen

My name is Karen Mann and I'm a SoulCollage® facilitator from Melbourne, Australia. This column is for those of you who have already made some cards & are ready to discover the symphony of voices inside of you and around you.

(Karen was on vacation during the production of this month's newsletter. We are reprinting one of her popular columns from a 2005 Soul Songs issue here today.)

Hidden Meanings
In Your SoulCollage Cards

  • Have you ever become aware of an aspect of an image after you've completed a card?
  • Have you ever been surprised to find something in your card that you hadn't realized you'd included?
  • Has an important "hidden" message or part of an image become apparent to you as you were gluing it down or even after the card was completed?

Then....welcome to the magic of SoulCollage and the wisdom of your subconscious!

Seena Frost (the creator of SoulCollage®) says,

...You may not know why you are choosing this image. This will be revealed to you as you create the card, as you show it to others, and as you consult and work with it over time.
A participant in one of my workshops found a wise grandmother hidden in the background of a card about her sad self. Another workshop participant found a mouth being covered by a hand (stopping her from speaking) in the background of a card about not feeling confident.

Someone else's card contained a background of an ocean filled with sharks. The SoulCollager intended it as a "menacing" background, but over time the (hungry?) sharks came to be quite an important aspect of this card about eating issues.

One woman I know had made a Peaceful Warrior card for her Council Suit. Her first interpretation of this card contained this sentence: I am the one who protects your inner and outer family/tribe. Later, she realized that lurking in the out-of-focus background there was an image of several people (her tribe!).

Take a moment to look through your deck this week and see if there are any hidden meanings just waiting there to surprise you. You might even discover a Council card that is longing toshare a special message with you.

If you'd like to share, you can do so on our Community message board. I look forward to seeing what you discover!

Karen Mann is an artist, art teacher, Lifestyle Coach, yoga and meditation teacher, and SoulCollage® facilitator. KaleidoSoul Notes

Note-worthy sites & resources that are proven to be worthy of our readers!

Gallery of Archetypes- An extensive list and description of over 80 archetypes. Please note that there is no "finite" list of archetypes anywhere to be found, but do read these over and see if anything strikes a chord with you.

Sacred Contracts, by Caroyn Myss. The subtitle of this one is Awakening Your Divine Potential, and I love this because that is exactly what archetypes can do for us, and Myss shows us exactly how. Through the use of vivid writing and good stories, she explains how you can identify your particular archetypes (the gatekeepers of your higher purpose) and use them to help you find out what you're here on earth to learn and do and be. Hardcover edition now on sale (SAVE $15) in the KaleidoSoul Shop. Limited quantity available... get yours today!
Goddesses in Everywoman, by Jean Shinoda Bolen. Discusses archetypes specific to women, including vulnerability, sister, wife, commitment maker, nurturer, daughter... and more.

The Women's Wheel of Life, by Elizabeth Davis & Carol Leonard. Subtitle: 13 Archetypes of Woman at Her Fullest Power. Goes beyond the usual womanly archetypes of maiden, mother and crone.
