Soul Singing with Anne Marie
Anne Marie, the creator of
Hi! I'm Anne Marie, the creator of, and a SoulCollage® facilitator in Massachusetts. If you're just starting to sing your song with SoulCollage®, this column is especially for you.

Doing the Next Thing

I have to admit, when I created the first issue of Soul Songs in September 2005, I was not thinking about getting to 100 issues, or even a couple of years down the road. I was simply driven by a deep soul-passion for SoulCollage® and a stirring desire to bring it to the world at large.

In the building of KaleidoSoul, I just kept doing the next thing. I followed every resource that presented itself to me, and I sought out some resources on my own. The process of SoulCollage®, from the very first card I made, was a huge lesson for me in trust. Melody Beattie, one of my favorite personal growth authors, once said:

I never know what the next lesson
is going to be,
because we're not supposed to know;
we're supposed to trust ourselves
to discover it.

For me, this has been the greatest gift I've received these past eight (8!) years of creating KaleidoSoul and Soul Songs: I've learned to trust myself, to trust the process, and to trust that I am guided by Spirit and a multitude of archetypal guides who continually have my best interests at heart. I learned this firsthand from the actual process of making SoulCollage® cards and from working with them. This trusting that the "right" images would be there and that the meanings would come clear in time, has amazingly overflowed into the other areas of my life.

I will say this again: when I first conceived of KaleidoSoul and this monthly newsletter that goes along with it, I had no idea what I was doing! I just let my passion guide me, and this passion never failed me.

The first email I received from someone who found KaleidoSoul, very early on, was from Karen Mann in Australia. She and I became fast friends via the power of SoulCollage® (and the web) that indeed connects us all. Conversing with her via email and phone, I quickly realized how much richer these Soul Songs issues would be if someone besides myself was writing a column, so I invited her to join me on this journey and she did! I want to thank Karen publicly here and now for her solid friendship, and the SIX YEARS of monthly columns that she gifted us with.

I would also like to heap abundant thanks upon Cat Caracelo, Catherine Anderson, Imelda Maguire, and Kat Kirby, SoulCollage® Facilitators with great wisdom and insight, who have offered creative and brilliant, shining guest columns on a wide variety of topics for the last two years. Soul Songs would not be the same without the insights and experience that they share with our audience of thousands of SoulCollagers around the world.

You can look at all of our back issues of Soul Songs in chronological order on this page. Take a peek and see how we've evolved from the very first issue!

Or you can look at this page and browse through the issues as they are categorized by the various suits and other themes. My hope is that these back issues will serve as a tremendous resource to you on your journey with SoulCollage®.

I am extremely grateful to Kimee Doherty who takes my MS Word documents each month and turns them into the beautiful email-ready newsletters that grace your inbox. I couldn't do this work without her! She has never missed an issue and is always there for me with supportive words of encouragement and blessing. Thank you Kimee!

And finally, I thank YOU, our readers for supporting the mission of KaleidoSoul and Soul Songs, which is:
  1. To make SoulCollage® easy and accessible to people all over the world

  2. To bring continual, bright inspiration and community to SoulCollagers around the world, regardless of their level of experience

  3. To assist our community members in living lives that are grounded in authenticity and self-acceptance

  4. To create connections between and among SoulCollagers from all different races, creeds, cultures and religions.
I am grateful to you, our readers, for sending in cards to share every month and for staying in touch via email and our KaleidoSoul Yahoo Group. You truly are the key to the success of Soul Songs!

I am indeed blessed to have work to do that is meaningful and creative, while touching the lives of thousands of SoulCollagers around the world via KaleidoSoul and Soul Songs. I wish for you the same pleasure that comes from the positive power of creation, whatever form that may take in your own life.

Just because we cannot see clearly
the end of the road,
that is no reason for not setting out
on the essential journey.
--- John F. Kennedy

These words of a beloved president capture my journey of creating KaleidoSoul and Soul Songs for the last eight years. When working with SoulCollagers doing readings for the first time, we encourage them to "stay unattached to any particular outcome." I urge you to take some steps forward this month on your own essential journey, and to not think about the "end of the road."

Here's to the next 100 issues of Soul Songs, and here's to your journey too!

Anne Marie Bennett is a writer, self-taught artist, website goddess, cancer survivor, and SoulCollage® Facilitator / Trainer who was mentored directly by Seena Frost. In 2005, she fell in love with SoulCollage® and was inspired to use her professional experience along with Internet technology as a means to serve the world by putting SoulCollage® "out there" in a really big way with KaleidoSoul. Anne Marie lives in eastern Massachusetts with her middle-aged husband, an elderly cat and one youthful dog who keeps them all young. You can read more about how SoulCollage® assisted her on her cancer journey on her website SOS Cancer Journeys.

Guest Columnist: Catherine Anderson

My name is Catherine Anderson and I'm a SoulCollage® Facilitator and Trainer from Charlotte, NC. I am delighted to be adding my voice to Soul Songs and hope that my words inspire you to look more deeply into your deck of SoulCollage® cards.

The more you praise and celebrate your life,
the more there is in life to celebrate.
--- Oprah Winfrey

I could think of no better theme for the 100th issue of Soul Songs than "celebration!" Life gives us so many reasons to celebrate, and using the SoulCollage® process is a meaningful way to celebrate and honor events or people who have made a difference in our lives. Adding cards to our deck which remind us of all the reasons we have in our lives to celebrate are helpful when we have days where we need to be gently lifted out of sorrow.

Maya Angelou says "it is important for us to recognize and celebrate our heroes and she-roes". These are the people whose example shows us what we are capable of doing. I know I need constant reminders that I can do the things that need doing in the world, that I have the ability, even when I feel small and insignificant. Not all our she-roes are well-known. Many of our heroes are the people in our everyday lives. People who remind us that we ourselves can make everyday life into a day to be treasured.

One of my favorite celebration cards is the community card I made to represent my Mother. My mother is known by my children as "champagne granny" as she always knows how to turn an ordinary day into a party. Her tenacity of spirit, and positive approach to life has always been an inspiration to me, and when I look at this card I am reminded to live life to the full, and to look for the celebration in everything that comes my way.

It is not just people who give us reason to celebrate. Every sensuous pleasure in life is a celebration, and my SoulCollage® card Taking Time to Truly Taste is another of my celebration cards. This card celebrates the senses, makes me grateful for the beauty that surrounds me, the abundant sources of food that I have access to, and the time to enjoy them all, one grateful moment at a time.

And when it comes to celebrating events, SoulCollage® is a perfect birthday activity! I love hosting SoulCollage® birthday parties. The guests all make a SoulCollage® card for the birthday girl or boy, and in a birthday ritual we share the cards and the "I am one who ..." statements. This is always a very moving experience, as it is not often that we tell our special friends just how they touch our lives. The birthday celebrant takes these cards home as a reminder of how much they are loved by their friends.

It is not often we slow down enough to make time to acknowledge those people who have added meaning to our life, or who have inspired us to think bigger or take action or who have given us courage and support. Or who just make everyday life more joyful by being part of our lives. Who or what can you celebrate today? There is always a reason to celebrate!

I'd like to end my thoughts on celebration by celebrating Anne Marie Bennett. Anne Marie is an inspiring light to those looking to expand life in all its possibilities. She shares deeply from the heart, and by sharing her cancer journeys inspires others on the journey. Thank you, Anne Marie for being a shining light in the world!

Simple Pleasures
Suit Unknown

I am the one who loves a warm embrace, who cherishes the love of our children and grandchildren, who enjoys the luxury of sleeping in after a stressful week, who savors a gift of freshly-picked berries, who delights in a good book, who relishes the aroma of perked coffee, and who is enthralled with the treasures from nature: a chorus of birdsongs, the sparkle of dew, the smoothness of a river rock, the song of the sea in a perfect shell, the beauty and fragrance of flowers.

Fifth Chakra/Throat: Visudha
Companion Suit

I Am the One Who you caw CROW. I am unafraid to speak out even if it seems no one will want to listen. Crow asks me to remember to let myself be guided by the voice for Spirit, then be assured that it is safe to speak without fear of what another may think. Remember Crow whenever you hesitate to communicate—go within & be guided, then speak the truth from your heart, and do not worry about being judged. I give you the gift of expression: SING THE SONG OF YOUR SOUL!

Healed Healer
Council Suit

I am the eye of the divine within us all. I am the one who extends her wisdom, gazing out, while indwelling. Embracing the small one who rests within my rooted heart. I am the one who is rebirthed, shedding old shadows and embracing the light. I am the healed healer.

Suit Unclassified

I Am the One Who is comprised of all the people in your life, both personal and hospice-related, who have been your mentors in the art of dying. Each has manifested as a pearl to become part of a beautiful necklace that you wear in their memory. I offer you the gift of choosing which of their traits you wish to emulate, and then deciding how to enhance the possibilities of those traits so they become a part of you and with you at the end of your life. Everyone you meet is your teacher in life and everyone you meet at their dying is your mentor in the art of dying.

Getting Nowhere
Committee Suit

I Am One Who has a recurring dream where I try frantically to reach a destination - but to no avail. I am one who is hurrying but meets obstacles along the way.

Childhood Trust
Suit Unclassified
The Netherlands

You have been aware of our existence as from an early age. You have seen and felt our energy and have worked with it for many years. I am the one who prompts you to reconnect and use your ability to the full. You use it but stand observing more than necessary. You are a gifted special person and very strong. Please put your fears aside and start reconnecting now. I will help you and inspire you. You can do so much more.

The Key

I am the one who holds the key. "In oneself lies the whole world and if you know how to look and learn, the door is there and the key is in your hand. Nobody on earth can give you either the key or the door to open, except yourself." ~ Jiddu Krishnamurti

Committee Suit

I am one who hides my sadness behind a happy face. I am one who looks at the world from afar but is not a part of the world. I am one who wanders, alone, homeless.

Blind One Walking
Committee Suit
North Carolina

I am the one who walks the plank. I am the one who steps out into change without seeing a solid path. I am the one who finds a way forward even as old structures collapse. I am the one who steps out blind. I am the one who experiences hope in this shifting portal; may the crash of the waves and the grit of sand make a pearl.

Please feel free to submit one of your cards for a future issue by sending a reply email to this newsletter.
